Education Chief 

Listed below are the responsibilities of the education chief. This chief is accountable for all the listed activities and will report to the Assistant Residency Director. The responsibility to accomplish the activities can be delegated to other residents throughout the year. In addition, cooperation with other chiefs in accomplishing their duties is encouraged. 

  1. Assist in conference preparation and operations (introduce speakers, summarize goals & objectives, make sure AV works, work with Coordinator to place on web.)
  2. Prepare and coordinate quarterly chief meeting.
  3. Select critical cases
    1. Connect with SPC and MPLS Childrens resident to get Peds Critical Cases 
  4. Trauma conference coordinator – be responsible for making sure the entire 3rd year class is signed up for their respective trauma talks, IM/EM or Grand Rounds.
  5. Connect with speakers to get summary slides, and push out a weekly email/blog/tweet with summary education tips 
  6. Participate in development and organization of 18-month curriculum.
  7. Aid the Asst PD in organizing combined conferences, research day
  8. Orientation: Meet with incoming residents to discuss "nuts and bolts" of the residency and participate in new-resident teambuilding.
  9. Work with Quality Wellness Chief to input resident schedules into Amion 
  10. Take leadership role in OHPE-sponsored resident conferences.
  11. Work with UMN on developing educational scheduling opportunities for residents, e.g., procedure labs, sim, etc. 
  12. Assist Quality Chief with coordinating orientation of off-service residents.
  13. Committees: Attend meetings that affect the residency (e.g., Residency affairs, , staff MD, GMEC, Residency Admin Team, Program Evaluation.)
  14. Recruitment: participate in interview process as coordinated by quality/social chief (one chief resident should meet with every applicant).
  15. Review intern wiki for accuracy of rotation information.
  16. Other duties as assigned.

Need to get cases to Ed Chief. Reminders in E/A to send a good case. Add to RegionsCup(KG). Peds cases are a problem. RD - submit from SPC/MC 2 cases (G1/G2). MRN/HP to get case. Track Res/Fac submissions. Number of cases submitted added to 6 mo eval? Add to Core Faculty req to submit. Get cases out 2 weeks Residents pick their own? Consultants - has to ultimately come from presenter. Radiology wants involvement. Critical Case/Interesting Case. The single case goes off of the curriculum.
